Welcome to Pixan Photography’s Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Park Wedding Venue Guide.
I have been a destination wedding photographer for almost 20 years now and have lived in Mexico for 12 of those years. In that time I have photographed over 500 weddings in most of the destinations and wedding venues all over this beautiful country. With that said, it is my humble opinion that Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Park stand out as the premier destination wedding venue offering in the land, if not the world!
But there is a problem, there is a whopping 14 unique wedding ceremony, cocktail and reception venues to choose from between Hotel Xcaret and Xcaret Park, making it easy to get overwhelmed. Choosing the right venues can be a daunting task, let alone figuring out the right event timeline for everything.
That is why I decided to create this guide, to help couples like you, to figure out the right wedding venues within Hotel Xcaret Mexico and the park for your events.
After all, there aren’t many photographers who have photographed and filmed more beautiful weddings at hotel Xcaret Mexico and the park that I have. In that time, I’ve had so many brides ask the same questions, but also make the so many of the same mistakes.
I hope that this guide will help prevent these same mistakes from reoccurring.
This guide with packed with Pros and Cons for each venue, pro tips, suggestions and tons of beautiful photos and videos from real life weddings at each location.
It never hurts to have a photographer by your side as an expert to guide you, something I’ve done for so many couples over the years.

MUST SEE!!! Hotel Xcaret Mexico Wedding Video that showcases almost all the resort's venues
I’m very proud of the Pixan Photography team for creating this incredible wedding video which dynamically shows off Hotel Xcaret’s Wedding Venues, while capturing the moment, the love and the energy experienced by all during this mixed Western and Indian Wedding. Enjoy : )
MUST SEE!!! Xcaret Wedding Video showcasing the park's WOW venues
Anthony and Alejandra’s stunning destination wedding took place at Xcaret Park’s most stunning venues. The Ceremony was at Chapel of our lady Guadalupe followed by a procession through Caracol de La Isla into the most amazing wedding reception venue. The couple and their guests stayed at Hotel Xcaret Mexico, getting ready in their room and 1st look at the Explanada Xerro.
Chapel of Todos Los Angeles - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros and Cons for Chapel Todos Los Angeles – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros:
- Amazing views
- Recognized Roman Catholic Chapel
- Large Capacity 150 guests
- Unique design
- Short walk down to cocktail and reception locations Xpiral terrace and ballroom. Not far from The Caves or Caleta Fuego.
Cons:
- Large Fee $1,450 *at time of writing
- Access via the Xpiral Pyramid Elevators can be very time consuming, not to mention hot and humid
Pro tips and opinions for Chapel Todos Los Angeles based on my prior experiences.
Out of the 3 recognized Roman Catholic Chapels at Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret Park, Chapel Todos Los Angeles has the best views and is most conveniently located within Hotel Xcaret Mexico, close by to cocktail and reception locations Xpiral terrace and ballroom. Not far from The Caves or Caleta Fuego and Hotel Xcaret Mexico guest suites. If you have elderly guests with mobility challenges or anyone who needs wheelchair assistance, then Chapel Todo Los Angeles wedding ceremony, followed by a Xpiral Terrace Cocktail and Xpiral ballroom reception would be the most accommodating option.
Although this Chapel has great views and sits on top of the interesting Xpiral Pyramid, personally my favorite Chapel out of the 3 on offer at Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Xcaret park is the stunning and totally unique Chapel of our lady Guadalupe in Xcaret Park.

Explanada Xerro - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros and Cons for Explanada Xerro
Pros:
- Unique backdrop of the Xpiral Pyramid staircase
- Hard Stone floor.
- Large capacity exact number unknown
- Unique design
Cons:
- 2020 construction of the next new Hotel Xcaret is ongoing and could cause noise pollution
- No bathroom within the immediate area.
Pro tips and opinions for Explanada Xerro based on my prior experiences.
Explanada is a nice space for Ceremony, although 2 ceremony’s that I photographed in this location towards the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 were effected by noise pollution from the construction of the next new Hotel Xcaret.
The design of the Xpiral Pyramid staircase is great for group photos. I have also used this backdrop for romantic photos and as a 1st Look location.

The beach - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Playa Beach – The main beach ceremony location is stunning, incredible clear Caribbean waters set amongst tall palm trees at the north end of the resort’s beach area. The space feels private. After photographing a number of wedding ceremonies at this location I have never experienced other hotel guests getting in the way of the shot. This location is for ceremonies or simple toasts only. Not used as a reception area. The capacity is 150 guests and might be restricted during turtle hatching season.
Pros and Cons for Hotel Xcaret Main Beach Wedding Location
Pros:
- Beautiful Caribbean Ocean background
- Palm Tree Setting
- Set at the north end of the beach way from other hotel guests
- I once witnessed a multi faith wedding (Indian/Christian) bride arrive at the beach via a Mayan Kayak with 2 Mayan Warriors rowing. *See the real weddings photos
Cons:
- No shade
- Bit of a walk through sand and rope bridges to get to other cocktail and reception locations.
- For ceremonies or simple toasts only.
Pro tips and opinions for the beach at Hotel Xcaret Mexico based on my prior experiences.
I have never seen this beach affected by seaweed. The sand is fine and white, the water color is breathtaking! The hotel does not put out lounge chairs on this area of the beach, therefore ceremonies here feel private and you are not likely to have other hotel guests photo bomb your wedding pictures. It’s quite a walk to get to this location, during which you and your guests will have to cross swing bridges, making it not the best option with anyone with mobility challenges. This wedding location offers the least amount of protection from the wind and other elements. Offers a nice area for beach photos.

Fuego inlet / Caleta Fuego - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Caleta Fuego is a stunning, natural typical riviera maya sandy beach located in the inlet area at Hotel Xcaret Mexico. The water in this lagoon is a mix of fresh and salt water. Most brides enter the ceremony area by walking through a cave enter into the ceremony site from under a cave entrance or from the stairs. This is the most perfect outdoor location for larger groups.
I have photographed a number of Wedding Ceremonies, Cocktail Hours, and Receptions at this location. It’s capacity is up to 250 guests!
Pros and Cons for Caletas Fuego / Fuego Inlet at Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros:
- Amidst Quintessential Tropical Riviera Maya setting of caves, crystal clear waterways, fine white sand and blue skys
- A short walk to other event locations such as Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas, the Caves and the beach.
- Option for the bride to enter via a cave or by a Mayan Boat.
Cons:
- Not a great deal of shade
- Sand floor so no high heals !
Pro tips and opinions for Fuego inlet / Caleta Fuego – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
A lovely location for ceremonies, cocktails and receptions with a variety of spots for great photos all around. The area offers some some protection from the elements and I am yet to experience an event here that was negatively effected by too much wind.

Cuevas Restaurant - The Caves - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
There aren’t many places on earth where you can have your wedding in a cave and Hotel Xcaret is one of them! Las Cuevas is just one of the many features of this gorgeous resort that make it so unique.
*Insider Tip: The caves are certainly amazing but they can also get really hot. There is not always a consistent enough breeze to keep your guests cool so if you plan on hosting your wedding reception in the Cuevas Restaurant during the warmer months we’d highly suggest renting fans since the resort does not provide this.
- Function Options: Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, and Reception
- Capacity: Up to 350 guests. The Cuevas Restaurant has a minimum guest count requirement of 100 guests for a private event. For guest counts under 100, only a semi-private function is available, which means you’ll have a separate space allocated to you and your guests, but the restaurant will continue to operate for regular hotel guests during your event. (Think of this like renting out a semi-private banquet room at a local restaurant. You get some privacy in that you and your guests are all grouped together, but you share the same restaurant spaces, restrooms, etc as the other restaurant guests.)
Pros and Cons for Cuevas Restaurant – The Caves – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros:
- Amidst Quintessential Tropical Riviera Maya setting of caves, crystal clear waterways, fine white sand and blue skys
- A short walk to other event locations such as Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas, the Caves and the beach.
- Option for the bride to enter via a cave or my a Mayan Boat.
Cons:
- Not a great deal of shade
- Sand floor so no high heals !
Pro tips and opinions for Cuevas Restaurant – The Caves – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Even with large fans this location can get very hot and humid during the spring summer and autumn. I would definitely recommend setting up your dance floor and DJ in the area outside the cave rather then the inside option. I’ve experienced both and inside dancing is too hot for most.

Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas - Hotel Xcaret Mexico
A Ballroom with an wonderful 180-degree view of the Caribbean Ocean !! This ballroom is located in the Xpiral Pyramid below the Capilla de Todos Los Angeles. Large arched windows surround the air-conditioned ballroom and there is a terrace outside which is great for a cocktail party. This space can be used for a Ceremony, Cocktail and Reception.
Pros and Cons for Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Pros:
- Beautiful large arched windows with a great sea-view
- Air-conditioned inside space.
- Tables and chairs inside the ballroom are beautiful.
- Close to the Capilla de Todos Los Angeles and not far from the beach or Caleta event locations.
Cons:
- At the time of writing there is no dimmer on the lights in this ballroom. The setting is either on or off. You may need to consider decorative lighting in addition DJ disco lighting.
- Might be a bit too big for a smaller more intimate wedding.
Pro tips and opinions for Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
My favorite option for an intimate wedding ceremony and / or cocktail / reception. I’ve experienced wonderful intimate wedding ceremonies here, followed by a cocktail in the same area, before moving into the adjacent smaller cave restaurant for dinner, while the decor is changed for the party setup. I’ve also experienced lovely intimate wedding ceremonies held on Caletas Fuego or the beach, with cocktails, dinner and party at Cuevitas & Bar Cuevitas.

Pro tips and opinions for Xpiral Ballroom – Hotel Xcaret Mexico
Hands down best, most convenient inside reception option following a Roman Catholic Wedding at Chapel of Todos Los Angeles. It’s super close by, easy to access, there is a lovely terrace outside which is great for cocktails. The fixtures and fittings in the ball room are stunning, although I would suggest lighting in addition to the DJ and dance floor setup.

Rehearsal Dinner: Xoximilco * Pro tip!! Xoximilco is a great option for a FREE rehearsal dinner. It’s the perfect Fun party, cultural tour to break the ice if many of your guests do not know each other yet. Just don’t organize this for the night before your wedding as many people will likely be hungover the next day after drinking too much Tequila!!

Chapel Our Lady of Guadalupe - Xcaret Park
Maybe the most unique Chapel that is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. Built over a cenote as an offering to our Lady of Guadalupe, this chapel is decorated with pure faith, you cannot help but be moved by its design and charm. With the altar on the water’s edge and the Virgin carved in a tree trunk 39 feet high WOW!!
Pros and Cons for Chapel Our Lady of Guadalupe – Xcaret Park
Pros:
- Serious WOW value, most unique Chapel recognized by the Roman Catholic Church that I have ever seen.
- Beautiful lighting, features earthy art with the virgin carved out of a tree that is suspended above the altar, WOW
- Built on a Cenote, with water all around the Altar.
- Air-conditioned
- Large capacity.
Cons:
- Bus ride away from Hotel Xcaret Mexico.
- Not the cheapest ceremony option.
- Not easy for guests with mobility challenges.
Pro tips and opinions for Chapel Our Lady of Guadalupe – Xcaret Park
Personally I am totally in love with this wedding venue because of it’s unique earthy design. I find wedding ceremonies in Chapel of our lady Guadalupe, followed by a procession with sparklers and Mayan warriors through Caracol de la Isla, leading into the magnificent La Isle caves so captivating and enchanting. Super unique with total WOW factor. Make sure that you allow enough time for transport and photos around the park as there are tons of incredible creative spots for unique photos.

La Isla - Xcaret park
Guided by Fire and water , the path to La Isla through El Caracol, descends into a cave where the underground river of Xcaret crosses. A glass bridge will take you to this palapa equipped with everything you need to experience the best party of your life. With 1st level capacity of 370 guests and second level capacity of 250 guests, this venue is the perfect location for a truly world class destination wedding reception.
Pros and Cons for La Isla – Xcaret park
Pros:
- Total WOW factor.
- Loads of space for impressive decoration, the huge Candelier is incredible.
- Air-conditioned inside space, although it can still get very warm
- Stage for a Live Band, DJ or other entertainment.
- The walk through the Caracol into the caves and over the underground river is super mysterious and exciting.
- Option to party late into the night, much later than hotel reception options.
Cons:
- If your group has less then 50 guests this venue is probably a bit too large.
- Quite a walk back to the park entrance before a bus ride back to Hotel Xcaret Mexico
- You will need a big budge
- Food is good but not as nice tasty as Hotel Xcaret Mexico
- Dim lighting and lots of walking on cobblestone pathways with water all around might be a challenge for some with mobility concerns.
Pro tips and opinions for La Isla – Xcaret Park
Personally I am totally in love with this wedding venue because of it’s unique earthy design. I find wedding ceremonies in Chapel of our lady Guadalupe, followed by a procession with sparklers and Mayan warriors through Caracol de la Isla, leading into the magnificent La Isle cave so captivating and enchanting. Super unique with total WOW factor. Make sure that you allow enough time for transport and photos around the park as there are tons of incredible creative spots for unique photos.
Chapel St. Francis of Assisi - Xcaret Park
This semi open palapa Chapel sits at the highest point of Xcaret Park at 37 meters above sea level. The Chapel features Mayan treasures and Catholic relics. The views of the tropical vegetation is beautiful. I have only photographed one wedding ceremony here about 8 years ago for a big Mexican Wedding with 250 guests.
Las Pozas - Xcaret Park
A nice space on the coastline with beautiful sea views and palm trees throughout. I captured these images for Xcaret marketing however, I have never actually experienced or captured images of a real wedding at this location.
El Caracol - Xcaret Park
The four sacred elements of the Mayan culture —water, fire, earth and wind— fill this circular path with magic and splendor, where the ancestral wisdom of this millenary culture will be a great starting point to begin this new stage as a couple.
Hacienda Henequenera Patio - Xcaret Park
This Stunning traditional Mexican Hacienda Patio is a great space for events. It has a huge sunroof that will allow you to celebrate all night long without having to worry about the weather. I have never actually photographed a wedding reception her, although my team has captured a smaller Indian wedding mehndi ceremony at this location.
Wine Cava - Xcaret Park
With over 400 years of Mexican wine history and 150 lables of gran reserve. This exclusive area is perfect for a very special and personal dinner with your closest friends and loved ones

Hotel Xcaret Mexico Bride
We are so happy with our experience with Pixan. He was thoughtful, took time to get to know us and our preferences, and went about and beyond in service. The photos are spectacular and truly captured our special evening. We even did another shoot after the wedding that captured the incredible property. Us, our friends, and family are so impressed with the photos. We are very happy to have worked with Vincent.
Cheryl Jones
Hotel Xcaret Mexico Bride
From the minute we contacted Vincent, we knew we would be using Pixan as our photographers for our wedding in Mexico. Planning a destination wedding is challenging, but Vincent made it easy! He was quick to respond, friendly, helpful, and in a short time we built up a close relationship that left us in no doubt that our wedding photos would be magical.
On the day of the wedding he was fantastic- calm, full of stories but led by his photographers eye… always saying things like ‘oh that light is wonderful, let’s get you over there’ which left me and my husband smiling at one another, knowing he was working his magic and the results would be fantastic. We weren’t wrong! I spoke to Vincent during the ‘getting ready’ photos and told him that the most important shot to me was the look on my husband’s face as he saw me for the first time. Vincent waited with my husband as I waited for the music to be cued, getting photos of him awaiting his bride, and then dashed past to get the most amazing photos of the look on his face on he turned and saw me. I treasure that photo.
A couple of days after our ceremony photos we went to the beach and a private denote for a Trash the Dress photo shoot and, again, Vincent just amazed us! At every stage he directed us beautifully, he made us feel so special and important and it was never pressured. He was always fun with it too. I had been anxious around water but the underwater photos were an ultimate wedding goal for me, and Vincent was so patient in how he taught us, that we got the most incredible underwater photos out of it.
I really can’t begin to put into words just how fantastic Vincent is. I feel so very grateful to have had him as our wedding photographer.
If you are even vaguely considering booking Pixan for your photography please do it. You will not regret it!
The benefits of working with a Destination Wedding Travel Agent
One of the most important things that we would recommend to our couples is to find an amazing destination wedding travel planner to help you, from the very beginning. This can be a big time saver and a huge stress reliever – and it will likely save you some money and/or get you some really nice perks
Our favorite wedding travel planner for Hotel Xcaret couples is Yellow Umbrella Events. In fact, Cheryl and Shea have helped more US couples set up their wedding room block at Hotel Xcaret than any other wedding travel planner in the world! I’ve found them to be a calm and caring guide to so many of our past (and current) couples. They are so thorough in setting up your room block, contacting and helping all your guests with their room reservation and shuttle transportation, and in tracking all the details for you and your guests.
Since working with the wedding department can be a bit difficult, we suggest connecting with Yellow Umbrella Events before you even contact the resort. If you’re considering a Hotel Xcaret wedding, give them a call first. They will start by talking you through all the details – resort options, wedding package options, other wedding costs you may not have considered, room block and travel options, and more. Then they’ll contact the resort on your behalf to help you secure your wedding date and room block.
Here are some of the great reasons you should consider working with Yellow Umbrella Events:
- Their room block management service is complimentary for all Hotel Xcaret couples
- Instead of waiting days or even weeks to receive a response from the wedding department, you’ll get rapid responses from their team
- They offer a lower room block deposit by working with them, than if you work directly with the resort for this.
- They also offer some really great perks (like a free cocktail hour and a $1,000 airfare credit) that you can’t get by booking directly with the resort!
- They moderate a very active private FB Group exclusively for Hotel Xcaret couples, where they share all the latest information about weddings at the resort
- They’ll work one on one with you and your guests through the entire process – And they have a direct number to reach them at.
- They even build a custom one-page website for your wedding, that gives your guests all the details they could possibly need about the experience they will have at Hotel Xcaret and about booking their room in your room block. Here’s an example on one of those pages – https://www.yellowumbrellaevents.com/couples/sundiata-and-web/
You can reach out to them by email at cheryl@yellowumbrellaevents, through their contact form at https://www.yellowumbrellaevents.com/contact/, or by calling their office at #512-902-2743. Please tell them I referred you! I know they’d love to know that I sent you their way
